About Gas Safe
Gas Safe Register is the official list of gas engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas appliances in the UK. It replaced CORGI registration in 2009. Every engineer on our network is Gas Safe registered — you can verify any engineer's registration number at gassaferegister.co.uk.
By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer can install, repair, or service gas boilers, fires, and cookers in the UK. Using an unregistered engineer is illegal, dangerous, and will invalidate your home insurance.
How to Check
Every Gas Safe engineer carries a card showing their registration number, photo, and the type of work they are qualified to carry out. Always ask to see it before work begins.
Go to gassaferegister.co.uk and enter the engineer's licence number to confirm their registration is current and covers the work you need.
After any gas work, you should receive a Gas Safety Certificate. Keep it — you'll need it for insurance, selling your home, or making a warranty claim.

Common Questions
Yes. Under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, only Gas Safe registered engineers may carry out gas work in the UK. Using an unregistered engineer is a criminal offence, and any work carried out may be unsafe, uninsured, and invalid for warranty purposes.
Search the Gas Safe Register at GasSafeRegister.co.uk, or fill in our form and we'll pass your enquiry to a local engineer. Either way, check their ID card when they arrive.
Gas Safe engineers are qualified to install, service, and repair gas boilers, gas fires, gas cookers and hobs, and other gas appliances. Different engineers hold qualifications for different appliance types — their Gas Safe card specifies exactly what they are qualified to work on.
Yes. All gas work must be certificated. After a boiler installation you'll receive a Building Regulations Notification (or equivalent) and a Gas Safe installation record. After a service or repair you'll receive a service record. Keep all gas certificates — they are required for insurance claims, selling your home, and warranty purposes.
